Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Calculate & Convert ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use calculate-and-convert.com (the "Site"). We've built the Site to be privacy-friendly by default, and we've tried to keep this policy in plain language.
Your calculations stay in your browser
The numbers and values you type into our calculators and converters are processed locally in your own browser. We do not send the contents of your calculations to our servers, and we do not store or log them. When you close or refresh the page, that input is gone.
Information we do and don't collect
- No account required. We don't offer sign-ups or ask for your name, email, or payment details to use the tools.
- Local preferences. We store a small setting in your browser's local storage to remember your light/dark theme choice. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical request data (such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to deliver the Site securely and reliably. This is a normal part of serving web pages.
Third-party services
We keep third parties to a minimum. The ones we rely on are:
- Hosting & delivery (Cloudflare). The Site is served through Cloudflare's global network, which processes standard request data to deliver content and protect against abuse.
- Live exchange rates. Our Currency Converter fetches up-to-date mid-market rates from a public exchange-rate feed (open.er-api.com) directly from your browser when you open that tool. This request does not include your calculation values, but, like any web request, the provider may see standard connection details such as your IP address. If this request is blocked, the converter falls back to a built-in offline snapshot.
Cookies & tracking
We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. The only data we keep on your device is the theme preference described above, stored in local storage rather than a cookie. If we introduce privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics in the future, we will update this policy first.
How we use information
Any limited technical data described above is used solely to operate, secure, and improve the Site. We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it except as needed to run the Site (for example, with our hosting provider) or where required by law.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can clear the theme preference at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this Site. Because we don't hold accounts or personal profiles, there is no account data to delete on our end.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the Site evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
